Lovell’s Hockey is proud and excited to announce that Brian White has been hired as their new Off-Ice Strength and Conditioning trainer. It was an easy choice considering Brian has been on the Lovell’s Hockey staff since its inception 10 years ago. Brian’s relationship with Tim dates back to their playing days at the University of Maine.
Brian was a draft pick of the Tampa Bay Lightning in 1994. After a four year standout career as a defenseman for the Maine Black Bears, the Colorado Avalanche signed him. That year Brian played in the NHL where he played next to hockey greats such as Joe Sakic, Peter Forsberg and Patrick Roy. Brian played 10+ years of professional hockey with the majority of his playing time coming in the AHL for the Hersey Bears, Providence Bruins and the Cincinnati Mighty Ducks. Brian’s hockey career has also taken him all over the world making stops in the German DEL and the Finnish SM-liiga as well.
Brian joined Lovell’s after his senior year at the University of Maine as the head on-ice defensive instructor and our dry-land coach for Lovell’s week long camps. He has been with Lovell’s ever since. This past fall we were lucky to have him coach our Boston Advantage U16 Split season team.
Brian’s reached his dreams of playing in the National Hockey League and making a career of playing professional hockey for 10+ years because of the success his on-ice and off-ice regimen had on his development. Brian spent numerous hours working on his skating, puck handling, passing and shooting and supplemented that training with a challenging and rigorous off-ice training program. The healthy balance of both made him the player that he was.
Brian is now in a terrific position, more so than ever, to share what he has learned and what he has done himself over the years to make him the professional athlete that he was. Brian is excited to work with those who want to take their overall development to the next level. "I have always enjoyed working for Lovell's and being in a position to use my experience to help players develop. Now that I have retired from professional hockey, I would like to focus more of my time and energy on being a resource to players", Brian commented. "I remember first-hand how good a player Tim was and I am a firm believer in his development program. I am confident that through offering an off-ice program that will develop the strength, fast twitch muscles, endurance, power and agility it takes to play the game at a high level you will see improvements and progression that complement the player's on-ice development. The off-ice program we are designing goes hand in hand with the terrific on-ice development Tim, Joe and the Lovell Staff offer year in and year out."
Tim Lovell on Brian White; “We are extremely happy to have Brian expand his role with us as the new off-ice strength & conditioning trainer. It was a no-brainer for us to hire Brian. I know firsthand the work Brian put in both on and off the ice to become the player he was in college and in professional hockey. Brian is an easy going guy with a terrific personality. Brian’s work ethic is second to none! Brian & I are on the same page with want we all want to accomplish with the players that come to Lovell’s Hockey. Brian has been a part of that in the past and in his new expanded role he will continue to do so. He will do a tremendous job.” Brian’s facility will be at the newly constructed and state of the art gym at the Boch Ice Center in Dedham.
